Giving ‘Seeds of Love’ is a response mainly from a group of mothers who used our using the existing resources, contacts and initiatives to support our children. It is about creating a positive and tangible way to express our support our friends and community. We want to fill everyone’s hearts with love and share with them how they can do this as well.

This is an initiative that will give anyone who chooses to participate, a way to sow seeds of love for the many New Zealander’s that we lost or are affected in the Muslim community after the Mosque shootings on the 15 th of March 2019.

Waitakiri Helping Hands was about to make seed paper with the Enviro ferns to attract beneficial insects into our community. Colour my World were setting up to make packs for refugee families and New Brighton Stitch-O-Mat Trust was supporting the initiative by providing the site to do this and run events/workshops for it. This is a combination of all of those initiatives and groups.

We will write messages of hope and support, turn them into seed hearts to put in packs for families. We invite individual, friends, families, groups, schools and workplaces to do this as well to create a groundswell of support and allow for a positive and therapeutic support for all of us but essentially our children. People are encouraged to give these seeds of love to others so they can bel planted wherever they choose. Moving forward the hope is that we can work towards finding a public place to plant these on a chosen date to have a public place to share the seeds of love and to watch then grow and bloom.
